The wearable works by using a series of ultrasonic sensors that will blast a frequency in all directions that can't be detected by the human ear but will jam all surrounding microphones. This would allow users to have a private conversation without having to worry that their smartphone, smart speaker or smartwatch are listening. The Wearable Microphone Jamming bracelet has been developed by Yuxin Chen, Huiying Li, Shan-Yuan Teng, Steven Nagels, Zhijing Li, Pedro Lopes, Ben Y. Zhao and Haitao Zheng of the University of Chicago. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 35% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 9% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Ultrasonic Sensor Technology:** Innovative use of ultrasonic sensors is an opportunity for hardware companies to create unique and unobtrusive privacy enhancers. - **Wearable Privacy Devices:** The creation of privacy-focused wearable devices is a highly disruptive innovation opportunity for tech entrepreneurs. - **Microphone Jamming Solutions:** There is potential for new microphone jamming solutions to be developed to address privacy concerns in various industries. ### Who This Affects Most - **Consumer Electronics:** Consumer electronics companies can benefit from integrating ultrasonic audio technology to enhance privacy features in their devices. - **Security and Surveillance:** The security and surveillance industry can benefit from developing new solutions for preventing devices from recording unwanted audio. - **Healthcare Technology:** Privacy-focused wearable devices may have a major impact on healthcare technology, particularly for telemedicine services where confidentiality is essential. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Anti-Listening Technology Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-device-privacy-controller.md) - [Audio Recording Prevention Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-speech-protector.md) - [Voice Suppression Microphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mutalk.md) - [Vibrating Wearable Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xiaomi-wearable-speaker.md) - [Lip-Reading Necklace Camera Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/speechin-necklace.md) - [Voice-Quieting Face Masks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/voiceabsorbing-face-mask.md) - [Conversation-Muting Audio Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/audio-robot.md) - [Voice Capture Smart Rings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stream-ring.md) - [Anti-Intrusion Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sectock-privacy-phone-case.md)
