# Razor-Sharp Keyboards The Wave Piano is Slick and Slim and Flows Like the Sounds That it Emits By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-01-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wave-piano References: [tuvie](http://www.tuvie.com/elegant-glossy-wave-piano-design-inspired-by-waves/) & [behance.net](https://www.behance.net/gallery/WAVE-PIANO-2013/13685405) It would not be surprising if your first look at the Wave Piano caused you to question its purpose. This elegant grand piano deviates so greatly from the conventional form that you can hardly recognize it. The giveaway is, of course, the [slim keyboard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cleaver) that's evident along one side of the sinuous [musical instrument](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roli-airwave). A full set of ivories is presented at the base of a long and graceful arc that makes up the body and the cover of the tuneful contraption. A pair of arching brushed metal legs elevate Apostol Tnokovski's grand above the floor, and its these elements that seem to guide the curvature of the Wave Piano. To complete its streamlined and [futuristic look](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arnardo-desk), the melodious object has been finished in a high-gloss black that casts off lustrous reflections. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.8/10 - Popularity: 81% | Activity: 84% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Slim Instrument Design:** Innovative slim form factors for instruments are disrupting traditional designs and providing unique aesthetic opportunities. - **Integrating Technology with Instruments:** Instruments are incorporating technology to create new ways of creating and interacting with music. - **Non-traditional Keyboards:** Keyboards are being reimagined in unconventional ways to provide new playing experiences. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Music Instrument Manufacturing:** Manufacturers in the music instrument industry can explore new designs and incorporate technology to differentiate their products from the competition. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate slim, futuristic instruments into their designs to add unique and eye-catching elements to their spaces. - **Music Education:** Incorporating non-traditional keyboards in music education curriculum can provide new approaches to learning and playing music. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Touchscreen Grand Pianos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/porochista.md) - [Sculptural Art Pianos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steel-and-stone-piano-v2.md) - [Incredibly Elegant Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elegant-keyboard.md) - [Collaboration Piano Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concept-model-piano.md) - [Stealthy Rare Wooden Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/torch-t01.md) - [Digital HD Display Pianos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mozart-console-piano.md) - [Digital Motion-Sensing Pianos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roli-piano.md) - [Hexagonal Music Composition Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/music-composition-keyboard.md) - [Sustainable Hand-Crafted Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/working-synth.md)
