# Undulating Vertical Coatracks The Wave Coat Rack Gets Mounted Upright to Assume Less Wall Space By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-03-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wave-coat-rack References: [core77](http://www.core77.com/blog/consumer_product/designs_for_the_hanging_of_things_part_2_coat_racks_26527.asp) & [j-me](http://www.j-me.com/wave-coat-rack) Instead of installing a row of pegs along your wall, the Wave Coat Rack offers a reoriented solution that you would set up vertically. This is particularly beneficial for foyers that have limited surfaces for such clutter-controlling contraptions. A single sheet of [mild steel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pli-steel-wall-shelf) was cut into a long segment with upward-angled notches removed. These form effective [clothes hooks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rak) with pointy tips that keep your jackets and outerwear accessories from coming loose and falling off. You will notice four folds in the wavy panel, with two at the top and two at the bottom. These brace the Wave Coat Rack 8cm from the wall to better accommodate bulkier garments. The horizontal spacers also serve as small shelves for stashing your [wallet, keys and phone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/waveclips). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.5/10 - Popularity: 2% | Activity: 5% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Vertical Coat Racks:** Creating coat racks that are mounted vertically to save wall space while still providing functionality. - **Efficient Clutter Solutions:** Designing innovative solutions for organizing and controlling clutter in limited spaces. - **Multi-functional Coat Racks:** Developing coat racks that serve additional purposes, such as incorporating small shelves for storage. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for designers to create space-saving and aesthetically pleasing coat rack solutions. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Potential for manufacturers to produce innovative coat racks that prioritize efficiency and functionality. - **Home Organization:** Market for companies specializing in developing products that help homeowners maintain an organized space. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tripod-Like Garment Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifunctional-coat-rack.md) - [Open-Concept Clothing Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bauhutte-clothes-hanger-rack.md) - [Wall-Mounted Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/umbrella-1.md) - [Curvaceous Shelf-Paired Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wave-mirror.md) - [Envelope-Style Shoe Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shoe-storage-rack.md) - [Chinese Character-Shaped Coat Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resting-coat-rack.md) - [Wall Art Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/justin-case.md) - [Sporty Climbing-Inspired Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grip-hanger.md) - [Geometrically Shaped Hanger Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/triangle-hanger.md)
