# Spiraling Furniture Supports The Watson Table by Paul Loebach Belongs in Rivendell's Elfish Homes By Meghan Young | Published 2011-04-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/watson-table References: [trendsnow.net](http://www.trendsnow.net/2011/04/the-watson-table.html) & [paulloebach](http://www.paulloebach.com/) I feel as though the Watson Table is something I would have seen in Lord Elrond's home in the 'Lord of the Rings' film franchise. Its [spiraling supports](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables) looks fit for elfish royalty. Of course, it's a bit more simple than the intricately entwined [tree furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceiba-series) that was seen throughout the movie, but perhaps the Watson Table is bringing these outdated elves into the modern era. Created by Brooklyn-based designer Paul Loebach, the Watson Table has a very [organic look](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roots-collection-1) that is nevertheless refined and sophisticated as well. Part of his latest collection, 'Some Recent Experiments,' it, along with his other designs, are set to debut during the Milan Design Week 2011. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 39% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Spiraling Furniture Supports:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the use of spiraling furniture supports in interior design to create unique and visually striking furniture pieces. - **Elfish-inspired Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Tap into the fantasy genre aesthetic of elves and incorporate it into product design to appeal to a niche market. - **Organic and Refined Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combine organic and refined design elements in furniture creation for a sophisticated and nature-inspired aesthetic. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate spiraling furniture supports into contemporary interior design to create captivating and conversation-starting spaces. - **Product Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate elfish-inspired design elements into various products, such as furniture, decor, and accessories, targeting a specific consumer base. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate organic and refined design concepts into furniture manufacturing processes to cater to consumers seeking unique and nature-inspired home furnishings. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Aquatic Creature-Inspired Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nessie-side-table.md) - [Unique Burl-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/don-heston-studio.md) - [Sophisticated Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monumental-table.md) - [Island-Inspired Wooden Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/island-table.md) - [Illusory Cracked Base Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-side-table.md) - [Puzzling Geometric Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linked-side-table.md) - [Elegant Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-table.md) - [Playful Wavy Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wavy-table-design.md) - [Shimmering Oceanic Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-table.md)
