# Reservoir-Inspired Furniture The Watertower at Home Tables by Xiral Segard is Raw and Industrial By Meghan Young | Published 2012-10-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/watertower-at-home References: [coolhunting](http://www.coolhunting.com/design/xiral-watertower.php) & [xiralsegard](http://www.xiralsegard.com/) The Watertower at Home side tables are inspired by a French countryside landmark. Crafted out of heavy duty concrete, just like the reservoirs they are modeled after, the tables would strike a strong stance in living spaces. Although the [raw design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fels-coffee-table) may not appeal to some, the [industrial aesthetic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/industrial-art1) lends a rustic feel that would fit into both traditional and modern households. Created by Xiral Segard, a French designer with a particular affinity for cement, the Watertower at Home side tables come complete with a wooden surface that is removable. Underneath it lies a small storage area that doesn't have to house water. The Watertower at Home tables were displayed at the Now: Le Off! exhibit during Paris Design Week. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 17% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Industrial-inspired Furniture:** Designing furniture with an industrial aesthetic creates disruptive innovation opportunities in the home decor industry. - **Raw Material Usage:** Exploring the use of heavy-duty concrete as a primary material for furniture design presents disruptive innovation opportunities in the construction and interior design industries. - **Multi-functional Furniture:** Incorporating hidden storage areas within furniture pieces offers disruptive innovation opportunities in the furniture and storage industries. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can explore incorporating industrial-inspired furniture to appeal to consumers looking for a rustic aesthetic. - **Construction:** The construction industry can consider using heavy-duty concrete as a raw material for innovative furniture designs. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate multi-functional furniture pieces with hidden storage to maximize space and meet the changing needs of consumers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Concrete Sculptural Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ancora.md) - [Topographical Recycled Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/two-coffee-tables.md) - [Shimmering Oceanic Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-table.md) - [Cloud-Inspired Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloud-tables1.md) - [Fluid Topographic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-table.md) - [Impactful Industrial Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/to-steel-side-table.md) - [Geometric Cutout Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/designated-table.md) - [Geologically Fluid Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-geology-table-collection.md) - [Brutalist Multifunctional Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hyeonil-jeong.md)
