# Water Tank Artwork (UPDATE) The Water Tank Project Revamps Elements of New York City By Jamie Danielle Munro | Published 2014-09-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/water-tank-project References: [designboom](http://www.designboom.com/art/the-water-tank-project-wrapped-tanks-new-york-city-09-03-2014/) & [thewatertankproject.org](http://www.thewatertankproject.org/) The Water Tank Project in New York City looks at these tall structures in an entirely new light. Instead of simply observing them for their intended purpose, artists are revamping the metal designs to look a bit more appealing. The water tanks are decked out in complete artwork, improving the areas in which these are located and serving as a source of inspiration for any budding artists. Instead of drawing directly on the tanks, they are covered in material with the artwork sketched on there instead. This way the art can be continually changed, making for an interesting and updated view for passersby. Taking a water tank and infusing it with artwork is a great way to give a community a facelift, and to give inspiration and joy to people in the area.
