# WiFi-Connected Sprinkling Systems These Water Level Controllers Keep Your Lawn Fully Hydrated By Janelle Savel | Published 2014-01-25 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/water-level-controller References: [coolhunting](http://www.coolhunting.com/tech/skydrop-sprinklers.php) & [skydrop](http://www.skydrop.com/) A water level controller will take the guesswork out of the decision as to whether or not you need to water the lawn. The Skydrop controller is a simple operating system, which connects to real-time weather data via WiFi to determine when a sufficient amount of water loss has occurred. Based on that information, the Skydrop controller then schedules sprinkler times to water. Skydrop can manage up to eight different zones at a time for those with bigger landscapes that require tending. The water level controller settings can be changed accordingly off your smartphone -- even if you’re away from home. It only waters your lawn when it is necessary, thus reducing overall water usage and keeping your hydro bill to a minimum. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 34% | Activity: 45% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Wifi-connected Sprinkling Systems:** WiFi-connected sprinkling systems that use real-time weather data to determine watering schedules. - **Water Level Controllers:** Water level controllers that use WiFi and smartphone connectivity to efficiently manage water usage. - **Smartphone-controlled Irrigation:** Irrigation systems that can be controlled and adjusted remotely using a smartphone. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Automation:** Opportunity for home automation companies to integrate WiFi-connected sprinkling systems into their product offerings. - **Landscaping:** Landscaping companies can offer water level controllers as an eco-friendly and cost-effective option for maintaining healthy lawns. - **Smartphone Apps:** App developers can create innovative smartphone interfaces for remote control and monitoring of irrigation systems. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Connected Smart Hose Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-hose-timer-starter-kit.md) - [Plant Watering Smart Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/growcube.md) - [Connected Plant Hydration Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/growcube-smart-watering-system.md) - [Automated Plant Irrigation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plant-irrigation.md) - [Self-Watering Smart Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-leafypod.md) - [Connected Water Valve Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aqara-smart-valve-controller-t1.md) - [Climate-Controlled Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-flower-system.md) - [Whole-Home Smart Water Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moen-smart-water-network.md) - [Miniature Plant Monitors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plant-monitors.md)
