# Water Drop-Inspired Bench 'Public Chair' by Pop Chang By Elsa Blaine | Published 2008-12-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/water-drop-inspired-bench-public-chair-by-pop-chang References: [industrialdesignserved](http://www.industrialdesignserved.com/Gallery/public-chair/116170) Pop Chang was motivated by a drop of water to create his ‘Public Chair.’ This cute [circular seating design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chunk-doughnut-chair) follows many drip-inspired concepts we have seen in lighting, accessories and furniture. This particular bench has a comfy backrest and an [integrated light post](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-bench) to provide ambiance at night. Chang envisions his chair being used at poolside and at beaches. Can’t you just see a bunch of these surrounding a pool at some hip boutique hotel in Miami? I love the [pop colors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/popo-chair) too! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 23% | Activity: 53% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Water-inspired Seating:** Creating seating designs inspired by water drops presents an opportunity for innovative and visually appealing furniture. - **Drip-inspired Concepts:** Applying drip-inspired concepts to various products, such as lighting, accessories, and furniture, offers potential for unique and eye-catching designs. - **Integrated Lighting in Furniture:** Integrating light posts into furniture pieces, like benches, provides an opportunity to enhance the ambiance and functionality of outdoor spaces. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Incorporating water-inspired elements into furniture design allows for creative and captivating seating solutions. - **Hospitality:** Implementing water-inspired seating and drip-inspired concepts in hotels and resorts can create a visually appealing and unique environment for guests. - **Outdoor Decor:** Integrating lighting features into outdoor furniture, such as benches, can add a touch of elegance and functionality to outdoor spaces like pool areas and beaches. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Water Ripples-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/water-ripples-chair.md) - [Stainless Steel Reflective Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-view-chair.md) - [Adaptive Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adp-bench.md) - [Pool Noodle-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loop-furniture.md) - [Sculptural Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-public-seating.md) - [Elegantly Airy Outdoor Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arch-bench.md) - [Chic Recycled Aluminum Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bello-bench.md) - [Naturalistic Public Outdoor Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/life-ark-outdoor-seat.md) - [Sleek Public Seating Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leftover-bench.md)
