# Aquarium-Like Structures The Water Cube Pavilion by MRDV Will Make You Feel Like a Mermaid By Meghan Young | Published 2010-02-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/water-cube-pavilion References: [greendiary](http://www.greendiary.com/entry/mvrdv-proposes-water-cube-pavilion-for-world-expo-2010/) & [mvrdv.nl](http://www.mvrdv.nl) I vividly recall my childhood summer days in the pool pretending to be a mermaid, but I could never hold my breath or keep my eyes open long enough to do my imagination justice--with the Water Cube pavilion, however, I won't have to go red in the face to pretend I live underwater. Designed by MRDV for the 2012 [World Expo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portlantis) in Yeosu, Korea, the Water Cube pavilion is comprised of [water filled basins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/watercave) which not only control the climate to an extent, but also serve as the main attraction.
