# Cognitive Reminder Robots The 'Watch-Bot' Identifies Chores That Humans Have Forgotten By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2016-06-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/watch-bot References: [inverse](https://www.inverse.com/article/16141-this-robot-highlights-all-the-things-you-do-wrong) & [cs.stanford.edu](http://www.cs.stanford.edu/people/asaxena/papers/watchbot_icra2016.pdf) At the latest International Conference on Robotics and Automation in Sweden, a new [home robot](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zeroth-m1) was unveiled by the name of 'Watch-Bot.' Essentially, this robot is designed to serve as a second pair of eyes for humans and make sure no tasks go unforgotten over the course of the day. The Watch-Bot's "eyes" are a [Microsoft](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/microsoft-project-moab) Kinect that's been mounted atop a tripod, a moveable "head" and a computerized "brain," as well as a laser pointer that works like a nagging finger. If a homeowner was making coffee in the kitchen and forgot to put away the milk, Watch-Bot would be able to point out this forgotten activity. However, before the self-taught bot can make any suggestions, it must learn some of the routine activities that go on in a household. With time, the robot becomes even more accurate. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 44% | Activity: 52% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Cognitive Reminder Robots:** The development of reminder robots are becoming a popular trend in home robotics. - **Household Automation:** There is an increasing trend in developing robots that can automate household chores and tasks. - **Robotics in Home Assistance:** Robots are being developed and used to provide assistance to people in their homes. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Robotics:** The robotics industry can benefit from the development of home robots like Watch-Bot to perform household tasks. - **Home Automation:** The home automation industry can make use of reminder robots that can automate daily household tasks. - **Assistive Technology:** Assistive technology can greatly benefit from robots that are designed to provide assistance to people in their homes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Humanoid Chore Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mindon-unitree-g1.md) - [Multitasking Household Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/switchbot-ces-2025.md) - [Discreet Furniture-Like Home Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-home-robot-concept.md) - [AI-Powered Wheeled Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lg-2.md) - [Emotional Companion Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yonbo-smart-home-robot.md) - [Open-Source Housekeeping Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/housekeeping-robot.md) - [Home Robot Cleaners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onero-h1.md) - [Household Maintenance Humanoid Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neo-gamma.md) - [Assistive Home Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lg-cloid.md)
