Britain's Metropolitan Police are fearing the use of the Wasp Knife. The [dangerous knife](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wesn-scrimshaw-henry-collection) instantly freezes the internal organs of stabbed victims by injecting a ball of compressed gas into their body. The £200 'Wasp Knife' features a needle in the tip of its blade that shoots a frozen ball of gas. This gas ball instantly grows and balloons to the size of a basketball. All tissue and organs near the blast freeze, leading to instant death. The knife was originally developed for downed pilots, soldiers and security guards to use against sharks, bears, and other large predators. The Wasp injection website explains, “The effects of the compressed gas not only cause overinflation during ascent when used underwater, but also freezes all tissues and organs surrounding the point of injection on land or at sea.” ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 76% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Personal Safety Innovation:** Developing personal safety devices and tools that are less lethal and more effective than traditional weapons. - **Disruptive Weapons Development:** Exploring alternative weapon technologies that are less lethal and have less collateral damage. - **Anti-weapon Legislation:** Implementing stricter laws and regulations revolving around the sale and possession of dangerous weapons like the Wasp Knife. ### Who This Affects Most - **Defense & Security:** Developing non-lethal weapons that can be used to incapacitate and subdue violent subjects without causing permanent injury or death. - **Consumer Goods:** Creating personal safety gadgets that can be easily used by the general public without causing harm to themselves or others in the vicinity. - **Law Enforcement:** Designing and implementing policies that regulate the sale and use of dangerous weapons in order to reduce violence and increase public safety. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Poshly Designed Pocket Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wesn-x-pco-slipjoint-microblade-knife.md) - [Ultra-Tough Urbanite Pocket Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wesn-bornas.md) - [Featherweight Titanium Utility Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/titanium-utility-knife.md) - [Ultrasonic Precision Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/c200.md) - [Flash Freezing Machines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ufrost.md) - [Ultrasonic Chef Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seattle-ultrasonics-c200.md) - [Dynamic Movement Pocket Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/craighill-sidewinder-knife.md) - [Chromatic Carbon Inlay Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nitro-mini-damasteel.md) - [Recycled Utensil Street Gyms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gymshark-x-steel-warriors.md)
