The Wasp 3D printers are being developed by Italian firm Wasp. Wasp's project is aiming to bring together creative architecture with sustainable technology to bring socially good projects to life. Its 3D printers are capable of producing low-cost mud housing that could alleviate housing shortages in many parts of the world.

The Wasp 3D printer is around 6 meters tall and capable of printing structures up to 3 meters in height. The mud brick homes it builds have a low carbon footprint, and can be put together quickly in places where traditional construction techniques might not be feasible.

The design of these mud structures is inspired by the mud dauber wasps, which build their nests using mud. The term Wasp also doubles as an acronym for 'World's Advanced Saving Project'.
