# Security-Inspired Surfaces The Warp Table Series Uniquely Distorts Its Surroundings By Meghan Young | Published 2010-01-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/warp-table-series References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2010/01/19/the-warp-table-series-by-kieser-spath/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:) & [kieserspath.de](http://www.kieserspath.de/) To me, some of the best [furniture pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metamorphosis-collection-2) are those that are deceivingly simple, like this Warp Table series. At first glance, what looks like a beautifully crafted, yet plain table, actually hides some parlour tricks up its sleeve—er, [glass](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illusion-collection). Designed by Marcel Kieser and Christof Spath, the Warp Table series was inspired by the [security mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hooptical) in malls. Creating an interesting interaction with its surroundings, it is particularly interesting to see things upon the table.
