# War-Themed Restaurants "Buns and Guns" in Beirut By Bianca | Published 2008-07-02 | World Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/war-themed-restaurants-buns-and-guns-in-beirut References: [uk.reuters](http://uk.reuters.com/article/oddlyEnoughNews/idUKL0135029620080701?feedType=nl&feedName=ukoddlyenough) A restaurant in Beirut is building off Lebanon's war torn devastation by introducing a military theme. The "[Buns and Guns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bun-house-disco)" restaurant offers everything from bullet-shaped menus to a soundtrack of explosions playing in the background. The fast food restaurant, a favourite among teens, has staff in military fatigues serving up fare like [the "Kalashnikov" sandwich](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/street-fighter-menu). The strangest part of it is that co-owner Ali Hammoud says the theme has nothing to do with Lebanon's history, and was just an innovative concept he hadn't seen applied at any other establishment. "It's just an idea I had, nothing more, nothing less. I could have put toys in place of the sandbags and teddy bears instead of guns. But it was just an idea," Hammoud told [Reuters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-glenn-1). "You could say that the situation in the country made people pay attention," added Hammoud. On the bright side, the adrenaline rush patrons will get could help rev up their metabolisms, helping to shed the extra fast-food pounds they ingest. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 80% | Activity: 25% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [World](https://www.trendhunter.com/world) > [Regional](https://www.trendhunter.com/regional) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **War-themed Restaurants:** War-themed restaurants are emerging as a unique dining experience, providing an opportunity for businesses to tap into unconventional themes and attract adventurous customers. - **Military-inspired Menus:** Restaurants are incorporating military-inspired menus, offering creatively named dishes that resonate with customers looking for a distinctive dining experience. - **Unconventional Atmosphere:** Creating an unconventional atmosphere, such as a war-themed restaurant, can differentiate businesses in the competitive restaurant industry and attract customers seeking new and exciting experiences. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Food and Beverage:** The food and beverage industry can explore the trend of war-themed restaurants to create unique dining experiences and capture a niche market of adventurous customers. - **Hospitality and Tourism:** The hospitality and tourism industry can leverage war-themed restaurants to attract tourists seeking unconventional and memorable dining experiences, contributing to the local economy and tourism sector. - **Entertainment and Events:** The entertainment and events industry can collaborate with war-themed restaurants to create immersive experiences that cater to customers' desire for unique and memorable activities. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Shooter Game-Inspired Burgers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doom-burger.md) - [Combat-Themed QSR Burger Menus](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mcdonalds-japan-street-burgers.md) - [Nostalgic Music Dining Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bun-house-disco.md) - [Branded Grilled Cheese Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grilled-cheese-restaurant.md) - [Transforming Robot Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transformers-the-ark.md) - [Lebanese Food-Inspired Bakery Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/common-breads.md) - [Asia-Influenced Western Dishes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bombastic-supper-club.md) - [Fast Food-Themed Roads](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mcdonaldsfries1.md) - [Dystopian TV Series Meals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nukablast-burger-meal.md)
