John David built a [Boeing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thrustmaster-tca-flight-controller) 747 full sized flight simulator that replicates the jumbo jet cockpit. It recreates every switch and sound on a real 747. The simulator has an auto pilot, throttles and weather radar obtained off the net. It's made primarily from wood and cost about $30,000. The simulator has all the software to recreate take offs and landings from almost any airfield in the world. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 26% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Flight Simulator DIY:** Opportunity for individuals to build their own flight simulators replicating real aircraft cockpits. - **Home-based Entertainment:** Growing trend of creating immersive and interactive home-based entertainment systems that offer unique experiences. - **Affordable Technology:** Increasing availability of affordable technology allows individuals to create advanced simulators at a fraction of the cost. ### Sectors Adopting This - **DIY Hobbyist Supplies:** Companies that provide tools, components, and resources for individuals to build their own simulators. - **Virtual Reality (VR):** VR industry can tap into the demand for immersive experiences in the comfort of people's homes. - **Software Development:** Opportunities for developers to create realistic and accurate flight simulation software. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Aircraft Door Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-exit-door-table.md) - [Opulent Hotel-Like Jumbo Jets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lufthansa-technik-explorer.md) - [Drone-Themed Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drone-themed-bed.md) - [Realistic Cockpit Simulation Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/turtle-beach-velocityone-flightdeck.md) - [Full-Scale Racing Simulators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dyn-x.md) - [Sculpted Connected Racer Simulators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prodrive-x-callum-racing-simulator.md) - [DIY Life-Size Tanks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nd-woodworking-art.md) - [Authentically Designed Gamer Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thrustmaster-tca-flight-controller.md) - [Replica Sci-Fi Toy Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playmobil-star-trek-klingon-bird-of-prey.md)
