The recipe comes courtesy of the 'Alana Jones-Mann' blog and features a step by step guide for making a beautifully designed cake. To begin, you will need Illustrator or Photoshop, edible paper, edible ink, scissors, a buttercream-frosted cake and a design of your choosing. Begin by formatting your design in Illustrator or Photoshop. Once the document is ready, you can print it yourself or track down a local [edible printer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ikoffy-edibot). With your design printed, you will need to cut the paper to the exact size of your cake. Once your paper is trimmed, it should adhere firmly to the [buttercream frosting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buttercream-haze) of your cake. While these wallpaper cakes may not be the easiest DIY project, they are sure to impress any guest if you manage to pull it off. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.7/10 - Popularity: 97% | Activity: 96% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Edible Wallpaper Cakes:** Creating edible wallpaper designs for cakes using edible paper and ink, and design software. - **DIY Cake Decorating:** Offering resources and ideas for do-it-yourself cake decorating, allowing individuals to create beautiful cakes without professional assistance. - **Edible Printing:** Creating custom edible designs using a local edible printer for other cake or dessert designs. ### Where This Applies - **Baking:** The baking industry can adapt the idea of edible wallpaper cakes to create new product offerings and appeal to consumers looking to make unique party products. - **Printing:** Custom edible printing services can provide supplies, rental equipment, and printing services for DIY cake decorators. - **Design Software:** Design software companies can work with edible paper manufacturers to develop templates or software to create edible wallpaper designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Design-Centric Dynamic Artful Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artful-cake.md) - [Renter-Friendly Wallpaper Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/renter-friendly-wallpaper.md) - [Cardboard-Resembling Illusion Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-cake.md) - [All-Occasion Layered Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cake.md) - [Sprinkle Cake Mixes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/funfetti-celebrations-cake-mix.md) - [Wallpaper Design Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smooth-wallpaper-maker.md) - [Multilayer Canned Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canned-cake.md) - [Edible Flower Baking Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edible-flower-kit.md) - [Bread-Themed Wrapping Paper Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bakermee.md)
