# Cloud-Shaped Wall Partitions This Japanese Nursery Features Dividers Inspired by Soft Clouds By David Ingram | Published 2015-10-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wall-partitions References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2015/10/07/junya-ishigami-nursery-architecture-cloud-shaped-walls-high-rise-building-japan/) & [jnyi.jp](http://www.jnyi.jp/) Tokyo-based Architect Junya Ishigami has creatively divided the space inside of this open floor nursery with wall partitions designed to look like clouds. Located in Atsugi, Japan on the seventh floor of a 13-storey high rise building, this 23,680 square foot [children's nursery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kinder-rain) was originally a mostly wide open office building cafeteria with a series of bulky concrete columns. To help make the space more welcoming to children, the minimally inspired Ishigami decided to create a series of [cloud-shaped wall partitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloud-tables1) to slot between the existing columns. Each partition is different and features sloping archways and [curved openings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/morgen-screen) that allow for light to shine through between each divided space. Not only do these cloudy dividers look wonderful, but they also have the double duty of helping make the space more functional and welcoming to the children who inhabit it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 34% | Activity: 19% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Cloud-shaped Wall Partitions:** Cloud-inspired wall partitions are being used to creatively divide spaces and create a playful and functional environment for children. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** Interior design industry can incorporate cloud-shaped wall partitions to create innovative and visually appealing spaces. - **Architecture:** Architects can explore the use of cloud-inspired wall partitions to add a unique and whimsical touch to their designs. - **Early Childhood Education:** Cloud-shaped wall partitions can be used in nursery and daycare settings to create a welcoming and child-friendly environment. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tent‑Filled Daycare Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deya-day-care.md) - [Puzzle-Inspired Italian Nurseries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/noahs-ark-nursery.md) - [Vibrantly Designed Nursery Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multichildcare-crche.md) - [Town-Like Classroom Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kindergarten-of-museum.md) - [Playful Contemporary Offices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-contemporary-office.md) - [Hilltop Modern Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cloud-house.md) - [Playful Desk Partitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-partitions.md) - [Colorful Room Sanctuaries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorful-room.md) - [Cloud-Like French Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mon-nuage.md)
