The cradle is mounted on the wall and with a remote control the owner can raise and retrieve their bike with ease. Chargreave also has thought of ways to have the [bicycle locking system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/draken-bicycle-stand) installed in public areas such as subways or shopping malls, by use of programmable oyster cards. The 23-year-old [Royal College of Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phytosymbiosis) student developed the concept for an iQ Design Challenge hosted by [Toyota](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toyota-seat-chair) focused around life in urban centers and was one of three winners. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 28% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Remote-controlled Bike Locks:** The innovation of remote-controlled wall mounted bike locks creates an opportunity for improved bike security. - **Levitating Bicycles:** The concept of hoisting bikes up in the air offers a disruptive innovation opportunity for smart urban bike storage solutions. - **Programmable Access Cards:** The use of programmable oyster cards for bicycle locking systems opens up avenues for seamless access control in public spaces. ### Where This Applies - **Bicycle Security:** The development of remote-controlled bike locks presents disruptive innovation opportunities in the bicycle security industry. - **Urban Planning:** The concept of levitating bicycles can inspire disruptive innovation in urban planning for efficient and space-saving bike storage solutions. - **Smart Access Systems:** The implementation of programmable access cards in public areas creates potential disruptive innovation possibilities in the smart access systems industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Three-in-One Bike Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifunctional-bike-lock.md) - [Discreet Connected Bike Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laas-olock.md) - [Anti-Theft eBike Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bosch-battery-lock.md) - [Indestructible Bike Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldylock-forever.md) - [Dual Bike Repair Lifts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dual-bike-lift.md) - [Smart Bike Docking Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-bike-docking-station.md) - [Real-Time Monitoring Bike Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elios-crossover-lock.md) - [Collapsible Ultra-Secure Bike Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-lock.md) - [Tri-Functional Bicycle Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trifunctional-bicycle-rack.md)
