Rather than opt for large and obtrusive walls or a basic open-plan concept for this small apartment, 'MAEMA Architects' chose to install [small wall dividers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pixels-1) into the home. While the space remains small, the walls that wrap around the kitchen counter and entertainment unit offer the impression that there are separate rooms in the small apartment, without having to actually create them. The walls are brightly hued and asymmetrical, adding a quirky design flair that adds to the space's otherwise [minimal design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-cocoon). By including small "half walls" to separate the rooms of this 538 square foot home, the architects were able to improve the space without obstructing it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 83% | Activity: 68% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Miniature Wall-divided Homes:** Using small wall dividers to create the illusion of separate rooms in tiny apartments. - **Asymmetrical Wall Dividers:** Incorporating brightly hued and asymmetrical wall dividers for a quirky design flair in small spaces. - **Space Maximization Through Wall Dividers:** Improving the functionality of small spaces by adding small 'half walls' to separate rooms. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Opportunities for interior designers to create innovative solutions for small spaces using wall dividers. - **Home Renovation:** Potential for home renovation companies to offer customized wall dividers for small apartments. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Scope for furniture manufacturers to design and produce compact and versatile wall dividers suitable for small homes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Smartly Designed Compact Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compact-apartments2.md) - [Rotating Panel Room Dividers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ro-room-dividers.md) - [Contemporary Modular Space Dividers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallstreet.md) - [Modular Wall-Building Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blokaloks.md) - [Thoughtful Micro Studio Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-studio-apartment.md) - [Japanese Inn-Inspired Micro Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-tarta-piccola.md) - [Golden Divider Apartment Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ral-snchez.md) - [Flexible Room Partition Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/room-partition-system.md) - [Nostalgic 70s-Inspired Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-special-studio.md)
