# Cassette Player-Inspired Smartphone Accessories The Walkman SSS by Ja Heon Lee is Nostalgic By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2021-12-20 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/walkman-sss References: [yankodesign](https://www.yankodesign.com/2021/12/19/sony-walkman-music-player-docks-your-smartphone-like-a-cassette-player-reviving-nostalgic-memories/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=sony-walkman-music-player-docks-your-smartphone-like-a-cassette-player-reviving-nostalgic-memories) The Walkman SSS (Smart Sound System) concept has been designed by Ja Heon Lee as a modern-day accessory for smartphone users that would provide them with a decidedly retro experience that would no doubt provide pangs of nostalgia with each use. The device is imagined as a device that follows on the design language of the iconic [Sony](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retro-audio-player) Walkman cassette player from the late-1980s, but would see the cassette section replaced with a dock for a smartphone. An accompanying speaker unit would enable users to utilize the system as a way to listen to their favorite music, while the detachable multi-controller would function as a way to change songs or even take calls. The Walkman SSS concept speaks to the popularity of nostalgia in modern technology design as brands seek to appeal to a consumer's love for [retro aesthetics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vintageinspired-technology-tech-brand-kickbacks-discman-is-nostalgic).
