# Darling Diorama Domiciles The Waldhaus by Atelier ST Exposes its Interior Like the Set of a Stage By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-01-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/waldhaus-by-atelier-st References: [blog.2modern](http://blog.2modern.com/2013/01/atelier-sts-waldhaus-in-leipzig-germany.html) & [atelier-st.de](http://atelier-st.de/projekte/bauten/waldhaus.html) In terms of open architecture, the Waldhaus by Atelier ST offers greater privacy than your modernist glass boxes, allowing passers-by to peer in from just a single side of the abode. While many homes feature striking expanses of floor-to-ceiling fenestration, this charming cottage seems to frame the activities of its interior by its iconically pitched shape. The dark brown siding of the dwelling creates significant contrast against the white-painted and illuminated living space indoors, making the building a beacon in the night upon its forested site in Leipzig, Germany. This exposed front room of the Waldhaus by Atelier ST is a shallow one with an eating area, a place to warm yourself next to a fire and a hidden cushioned loft within the broad attic overhang. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 34% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Open Architecture:** Explore innovative designs that offer greater privacy than traditional glass boxes. - **Contrasting Exteriors:** Discover how contrasting siding can make a building stand out and create a visual impact. - **Exposed Interior Design:** Learn about the concept of framing activities within a home's interior through iconic pitched shapes. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** Discover disruptive opportunities in creating open architectures that prioritize privacy. - **Construction:** Explore how contrasting exterior designs can enhance a building's aesthetic appeal. - **Interior Design:** Innovate in the field of exposed interior design by incorporating iconic pitched shapes into living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Chalet-Inspired Showrooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gstaad-house.md) - [Nature-Rooted Family Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/haus-am-lagnesberg.md) - [Privacy Enhanced Minimal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-open-house-1.md) - [Compact Modular Forest Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-house.md) - [Geometric Timber Holiday Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amunt.md) - [Duplex-Appearing Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/duplex-house.md) - [Log Cabin-Inspired Minimal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/restua.md) - [Sustainable Cubic Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/appels-architekten.md) - [Daylight-Filled Treetop Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atwater-house.md)
