# Electronic Sketch Pens The Wacom Inkling Captures Your Hand-Drawn Masterpieces By Meghan Young | Published 2011-09-03 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wacom-inkling References: [uncrate](http://uncrate.com/stuff/wacom-inkling/) & [inkling.wacom](http://inkling.wacom.com/) Illustrators, designers and artists alike will certainly jump for joy once they get their hands on the [Wacom](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-digital-drawing) Inkling. This electronic pen will revolutionize the way artists are able to transfer their artworks into digital form. Although there are tablets that allow people to write, doodle and draw straight onto their computers, this often takes away a lot of the finesse in such works. The Wacom Inkling allows you to sketch over an already completed, hand-drawn masterpiece so that every nuance is translated onto the computer. Bridging the gap between traditional, freehand sketching and digital development, the Wacom Inkling captures a digital likeness of a [pen-on-paper sketch](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/montblanc-digital-paper). The beauty of this product is that there is no need for special paper as well; simply clip the receiver onto the top of the page and then let the Wacom Inkling pen do the rest of the work, at the direction of your own hand, of course. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 81% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Digital Sketching:** The trend of using electronic sketch pens like the Wacom Inkling allows artists to bridge the gap between traditional sketching and digital development. - **Enhanced Artistic Control:** The trend of using electronic sketch pens enables artists to retain the finesse and nuance of their hand-drawn masterpieces, enhancing artistic control. - **Effortless Digitization:** The trend of using electronic sketch pens simplifies the process of transferring hand-drawn artworks into digital form, making the digitization effortless. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Graphic Design:** The graphic design industry can benefit from electronic sketch pens as they provide artists with a tool to seamlessly translate their work into digital form. - **Illustration:** The illustration industry can leverage electronic sketch pens like the Wacom Inkling to maintain the authenticity and artistic control of hand-drawn sketches while transitioning to digital mediums. - **Fine Art:** The fine art industry can embrace electronic sketch pens as a disruptive innovation opportunity to explore new ways of merging traditional art techniques with digital technologies. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Portable Digital Drawing Pads](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-digital-drawing.md) - [Paper-Inspired Drawing Tablets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xencelabs-pen-tablet.md) - [Real-Time Digitizing Note-Taking Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digitizing-notetaking.md) - [Digital Writing Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fuseproject.md) - [Captivating Stylus Pens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quill.md) - [Portable Drawing Tablets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/movinkpad-11.md) - [Notepad-Replacing E Ink Tablets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocketbook-inkpad-x-pro.md) - [AI-Fuelled Ballpoint Pens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xnote.md) - [Portable Drawing Tablets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-projector-for-kids.md)
