# Female Vulnerability As Art Ben Tour's 'Electric Orphans' Paintings Show Troubled Women By TrendHead | Published 2009-01-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vulnerable-women-artworks-new-solo-exhibition-by-ben-tour References: [thetourshow](http://www.thetourshow.com/news) & [metagallery](http://metagallery.com/exhibitions/4/electric) I love the beautiful artworks of Toronto-born artist Ben Tour. He draws and paints these [incredibly beautiful, yet troubled women](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/women-carvers). There is a dark mystique hidden in the expression of his characters. There's an accuracy of detail where a vulnerability often emerges. Very enchanting. Ben Tour draws inspiration from the streets using spray paint, graffiti and urban art references, but he also looks to masters of painting such as Bacon and Schiele. His first [solo exhibition in Toronto](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/art-in-motion-exhibition) is called *Electric Orphans* and is on at the Meta Gallery until February 15. Have a look at the video above for a tour de Ben Tour. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 88% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Troubled Female Musings:** Opportunity to create artworks featuring female subjects that highlight emotional and psychological issues. - **Urban Artistry:** Opportunity to recreate urban landscape and artform into new art works. - **Dark Emotions:** Opportunity to spark conversations about darker aspect of human psyche. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Culture:** Opportunity to showcase art works featuring female vulnerability. - **Entertainment and Media:** Opportunity to explore the emotional and psychological aspect of human nature in new narratives and characters. - **Technology:** Opportunity to incorporate urban elements and references into virtual reality and augmented reality experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Multi-Sensory Art Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arcadia-earth-toronto-benjamin-von-wong.md) - [Raunchy Anime-Inspired Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manuela-soto-sosa.md) - [Boundary-Pushing Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/briony-douglas-1.md) - [Otherwordly Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/william-monk.md) - [Glamorous Artful Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sweet-jane.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [Surreal Love-Themed Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joakim-ojanen.md) - [Abstract Geometric Solo Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/impermanent-state-of-being.md) - [Human Duality-Themed Abstract Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/passive-aggression.md)
