# Virtual Reality Girlfriends This VR Service Provides Users with a Realistic Romantic Experience By Riley von Niessen | Published 2016-09-06 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vr-service References: [hypebeast](http://hypebeast.com/2016/9/alicex-virtual-reality-girlfriend) & [alicex](https://www.alicex.com/) 'AliceX' is the name of a VR service that allows users to access a 24-hour webcam site that they view with a headset. Described as a "[virtual girlfriend experience](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intimacy-technology)," the VR service was made for those who don't have much luck in the dating scene and find themselves lonely, or perhaps just those who are curious to see how far technology can take them. In order to ensure that users are totally immersed, AliceX uses models who pretend to know the people watching them through the headsets. To upgrade the quality of this, it's reported that the VR service "plans on implementing [Oculus](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emirates-vr-experience) [Rift](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rift-rally) support in the future." Although it's not likely that AliceX will have the power to replace human interactions, its existence shows how more and more companies are implementing the futuristic technology to satisfy the personal needs of consumers on every level. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.9/10 - Popularity: 99% | Activity: 99% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Virtual Companionship:** The trend of virtual reality services providing realistic romantic experiences, may expand to other forms of companionship such as friendships and business relationships. - **VR for Personal Wellness:** Virtual reality may increasingly be used to improve mental health by providing users with therapeutic experiences tailored to their individual needs. - **VR Integration with Dating Services:** Online dating platforms may integrate virtual reality technology to offer users a more immersive dating experience. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Virtual Reality:** Virtual reality companies may explore offering users virtual companionship experiences as a new revenue stream. - **Mental Health:** Mental health practitioners may use virtual reality therapy to treat patients with anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions. - **Online Dating:** Online dating platforms may integrate virtual reality technology to create a more realistic and engaging experience for users. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [VR Dating Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flirtual.md) - [VR-Based Dating Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nevermet.md) - [AI-Powered Fantasy Video Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/realized-fantasy.md) - [Personalized Digital Dating Rooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/virtual-spaces-for-singles.md) - [VR Cat Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vr-cat-experiences.md) - [AI Social Companions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/future-match.md) - [AI Companion Holograms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/project-ava-1.md) - [AI Dating Assistants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intimal.md) - [AI Chatbot Companions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/replika.md)
