# Witch Doctor Furniture Ex-Boyfriends & Girlfriends Should Avoid the Voodoo Chair By Michael Hines | Published 2010-04-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/voodoo-chair References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/rgarzamarcos/frame/271711) & behance.net I'd think twice before taking a seat in the Voodoo Chair. This design from Ricardo Garza Marcos is clearly meant to put a painful hex on you. Never have I encountered such a [nefarious chair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atypical-chair). Okay, maybe the Voodoo Chair isn't *actually* meant to curse you. This chair's design is so simple it's almost pedestrian--[two pieces of wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mt-chair) are held together by [stainless steel "needles"](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceiba-series) creating a unique seating experience. As long as the Voodoo Chair doesn't make me experience unexplained physical pain, we should be cool. I'm down with witch doctors. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.6/10 - Popularity: 4% | Activity: 5% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Unique Seating Experience:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in designing unconventional seating solutions. - **Simplistic Design:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in creating minimalist furniture pieces. - **Nefarious Furniture:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in designing unconventional and edgy furniture with a twisted aesthetic. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in creating avant-garde furniture designs. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in incorporating unique seating experiences into interior spaces. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in offering bold and unconventional furnishing options to the home decor market. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Humorous Macabre Office Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coffin-office-chair.md) - [Chic Single-Piece Plywood Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/void-lounge-chair.md) - [Waste-Incorporated Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knoll-chairs.md) - [Skeletally Inspired Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chaise-espinhal.md) - [Meditation Wood Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vipassa.md) - [Experimental Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/philipp-aduatz.md) - [Artfully Balanced Chair Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halfway-serious.md) - [Music-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-chair1.md) - [Historic Dynamic Cane Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/charu-chair.md)
