# Geoform Clamshell Recliners The Vondom Faz Daybed is a Covered Couch for Lounging Out of Doors By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-01-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vondom-faz-daybed References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2013/01/14/faz-daybed-by-ramon-esteve-for-vondom/) & [ramonesteve](http://www.ramonesteve.com/diseno-industrial/faz-vondom) Not all luxurious looks, the Vondom Faz Daybed has a clever configuration that serves a pair of functions. This lavish [outdoor lounger](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbit-outdoor-furniture) has an awning that acts as a parasol for its user as well as a cover to protect its [plush cushions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calma-lounge) from the weather. Ramon Esteve's design seems inspired by a [clam or oyster shell](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seashell-nuo) with its integration of a reclined sofa seat with a hinged upper cover. The entire piece has been sculpted to take a symmetrical but abstract geoform composition with a finish in an immaculate white. The beveled triangular faces that shape the surfaces of the Vondom Faz Daybed celebrate its synthetic materiality and assert it as an example of contemporary design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 66% | Activity: 51% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Outdoor Loungers:** With the growing demand for outdoor living spaces, there are disruptive innovation opportunities for companies that design and manufacture stylish and functional outdoor loungers. - **Multi-functional Furniture:** The Vondom Faz Daybed's clever configuration highlights the potential for disruptive innovation in creating furniture that serves multiple purposes, combining aesthetics and practicality. - **Geoform Design:** The use of a symmetrical and abstract geoform composition in the Vondom Faz Daybed showcases the disruptive innovation potential in designing furniture that explores unconventional shapes and forms. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Outdoor Furniture:** The outdoor furniture industry can capitalize on the growing trend of creating luxurious and functional outdoor living spaces, offering innovative and stylish pieces like the Vondom Faz Daybed. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry has an opportunity to incorporate multi-functional furniture designs like the Vondom Faz Daybed, catering to consumers' desire for versatile and space-saving solutions. - **Contemporary Design:** The Vondom Faz Daybed's contemporary design showcases the potential for disruptive innovation within the field of contemporary furniture design, inspiring new creative approaches and materials. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Beachside Modern Daybed Setups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contour-daybed.md) - [Stylishly Modern Daybeds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-daybed.md) - [Elegant Exterior Lounge Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lounge-bed.md) - [Wooden Structural Outdoor Bedes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hut-lounge-bed.md) - [Scandinavian-Inspired Floating Daybeds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poolsofa.md) - [Chunky Outdoor Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luna-collection-by-vondom.md) - [Modern Cushioned Outdoor Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pod-outdoor-seating.md) - [Shaded Modern Outdoor Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ufo-shelter.md) - [Capacious Outdoor Sofa Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/africa-sofa.md)
