# Fluid Transparent Basins The Volta Sink by GlassDesign is Sleek and Minimalist By Meghan Young | Published 2014-04-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volta-sink References: [deconiche](http://www.deconiche.com/volta-sink-glassdesign/) & [glassdesign.it](http://www.glassdesign.it/) The [Volta Sink](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volta-collection) is fluid and transparent, just like the water that comes pouring out onto it. In fact, when first presented with the basin, it wouldn't be surprising if people irrationally thought that the water would pour right out of the Volta Sink. Of course, this is due in large part to the floppy lip at the forefront of the design. Clean and contemporary, the minimalist Volta Sink was created for Italian manufacturer GlassDesign. Paired with an equally [simple faucet](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kohler-billet), it is perfect for [small bathrooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archiplan-compact-basin-collection) that could use such illusions of invisible fixtures. Crafted out of glass, the delicate look of the Volta Sink is nevertheless countered by its heat-treated surface, which makes it much stronger than it first appears. The curved silhouette adds a decorative touch to bathrooms. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 81% | Activity: 31% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Fluid Transparent Basins:** The trend towards fluid and transparent basins in bathroom design creates opportunities for new materials and construction techniques. - **Minimalist Bathroom Fixtures:** The rise of minimalist bathroom fixtures provides opportunities for innovative designs and functionality in small spaces. - **Heat-treated Glass Surfaces:** The use of heat-treated glass surfaces in bathroom fixtures allows for delicate and transparent designs without sacrificing durability or strength. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Bathroom Fixtures:** The bathroom fixtures industry can take advantage of the trend towards minimalist and transparent designs by exploring new materials and construction techniques to create innovative products. - **Architecture and Interior Design:** Architects and interior designers can incorporate fluid and transparent basins as a design element in small spaces, creating the illusion of more space while maintaining a sleek and modern aesthetic. - **Glass Manufacturing:** The use of heat-treated glass surfaces in bathroom fixtures presents an opportunity for glass manufacturers to develop new products and manufacturing processes that can create durable, yet transparent and delicate designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Electric Kiln-Made Unique Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volta-1.md) - [Illuminated Base Bathroom Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antoniolupi-albumelux.md) - [Angular Ceramic Sink Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/angle-washbasin.md) - [Ultra-Modern Freestanding Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/freestanding-sink.md) - [Textural Bathroom Sink Basins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/washbasin-collection.md) - [Dynamic Marble Sink Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinito.md) - [Collaborative Seashell-Like Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spire-washbasin.md) - [Slick Bathroom Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slick-bathroom-sink.md) - [Playful Concrete Wash Basins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kast-wave-collection.md)
