# Mod Molten Grills The Volcano Barbecue Erupts with Aesthetic Flair and Flames By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-11-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volcano-barbecue References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2013/11/18/fiery-feast/) The Volcano Barbecue is certainly a hot culinary concept, dreamed up by Jinseon Yoo and Seoryeong Sharon Lee. When it's switched off, the countertop appliance might appear as an [elegant decorative item](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smeg-builtin-electric-bbq-grill) rather than a bare-flamed cooker, but this is part of its appeal. Taking the form of a deep disk, the shallow bowl holds charcoal and acts as a catch for any excess grease that might drip down into it. The sophisticated creamy tone is contrasted beautifully with the ebony black lid that functions as a surprisingly sculptural grill. Two crossing slits in the rippling material mimic the cracks in the unsettled Earth's surface. It's through these that the Volcano Barbecue emits [dancing flames](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bonflame) that are a feast for the eyes as well. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 85% | Activity: 71% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Aesthetic Grills:** The Volcano Barbecue appeals to consumers who seek innovative and visually-appealing grilling options. - **Countertop Appliances:** The Volcano Barbecue taps into the trend of convenient and space-efficient countertop appliances for cooking and entertaining. - **Sculptural Cooking:** The Volcano Barbecue showcases the potential of incorporating artistry and design into cooking equipment for a unique user experience. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Appliances:** The Volcano Barbecue offers an opportunity for home appliance manufacturers to create visually-appealing and convenient solutions for cooking enthusiasts. - **Outdoor Living:** The Volcano Barbecue caters to the growing demand for outdoor cooking equipment that combines innovation with aesthetics for a unique backyard experience. - **Kitchen Design:** The Volcano Barbecue demonstrates the potential of incorporating unique and visually-striking elements into kitchen design for a one-of-a-kind cooking experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cooking-Friendly Outdoor Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/regg-surprise.md) - [Compact Tabletop Charcoal Grills](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/afterglow-portable-charcoal-stove.md) - [Suitcase-Style Outdoor Grills](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/b2q-kit.md) - [Portable Suitcase-Style Barbecues](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yuanye-folding-barbecue.md) - [Multilayer Portable Charcoal Grills](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barbeall-portable-charcoal-grill.md) - [High-Heat Bamboo Meat Grills](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apix-bamboo-tabletop-meat-grill.md) - [Old-Fashioned Toolbox Grills](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retro-blaze-charcoal-grill.md) - [Theatrical Electric Grills](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-teppanyaki.md) - [Stabilized High-Heat Charcoal Grills](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thaan-grill.md)
