French designer Emilie Voirin has created a set of furniture pieces out of [rattan (similar to bamboo)](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-mood) entitled ‘Made in China.’ Among these pieces is a chair which features an odd protruding awning over the sitter’s head.

Emilie Voirin’s shy chair is actually titled ‘[Emanuelle is Shy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/introvert-chair).’ It basically looks like something you would sit in if you wanted to hide your face, which is pretty much the idea Voirin was going for--apparently a “being seen without seeing” theme.

In addition to Emilie Voirin's shy chair, a few normal-looking pieces are included in her ‘Made in China’ collection, including a chair that resembles the iconic Panton Chair (a design created by Verner Pantonn in 1960).
