Appearing as part of the city's annual Summer Streets, an event to celebrate NYC's most popular [public spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unheard-voices-pavilion), Voice Tunnel transforms the Park Avenue Tunnel into a modern [light and sound installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/feel-the-sound). City dwellers and tourists alike can walk straight into the usually car-filled tunnel and speak into an intercom where the sound will turn into light fragments which change depending on the intensity of volume. If you're planning a visit to the big apple sometime in August, consider skipping a typical visit to the Empire State building and head to the Voice Tunnel instead. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 48% | Activity: 65% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Interactive Light Installations:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new ways to incorporate interactive light installations into public spaces for a unique and immersive experience. - **Artistic Sound Transformation:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combine sound and light technology to create installations that translate sound into visual elements, enhancing the sensory experience. - **Reimagining Public Spaces:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Rethink how underutilized public spaces can be transformed into engaging and captivating environments through art and technology. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art Installations:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Merge technology and art to create interactive installations that captivate audiences and redefine traditional art experiences. - **Tourism:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Attract tourists by offering unique attractions and experiences that go beyond the usual landmarks, such as immersive light and sound installations. - **Urban Development:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate interactive and artistic elements into urban spaces to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors, fostering a sense of community and delight. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Urban Soundscape Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moment-installation.md) - [Swirled Public Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tunnel-vision-installation.md) - [Immersive Light Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Digital City-Inspired Art Works](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grand-central-station.md) - [Illuminated Curtained Light Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/making-the-invisible-visible.md) - [Interactive Mountain Oracles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whispering-mountains.md) - [Color-In Commuter Tunnels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/masterpeace-painting.md) - [Immersive Light Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spencer-finch.md) - [Vibrant Public Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rico-gatson.md)
