This sinister film by Gordon Von Steiner was made to accompany the striking cover story captured by the sublime photographer Steven Meisel. It stars model Caroline Murphy engaging in seemingly mundane minutiae, until the striking message of this fashion film becomes clear.
First, Caroline is pictured with a sea of artificial face masks, which she then sports throughout her countryside estate. Images of a spanning landscape, horses and the masked dame are fragmented to deliver a dire warning of beauty homogenization. The most striking part of the is piece is the resemblance of each mask to some extreme plastic surgery cases. The editorial goes beyond a showcase of fall fashion, it also makes a bold statement on the extremities that a woman’s modern quest for perfection.
