# Abstract Workspace Wall Coverings Visual Magnetics' 'Forces' Collection Features Illusive Designs By Joey Haar | Published 2017-05-23 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/visual-magnetics References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/forces-by-jill-malek-x-visual-magnetics/) & [dynamicspaces](http://www.dynamicspaces.com/magnetic-wallcoverings/) Workspaces tend to have a pretty bad reputation when it comes to design, and [Visual Magnetics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/richard-june) is working to change that with its new 'Forces' collection. The [wall coverings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fashionable-wall-coverings) feature illusive designs that are simultaneously attractive and functional thanks to the inclusion of Visual Magnetics dry erase surface around a central row. Forces was conceived of by Jill Malek, an award-winning designer. The covering is her first project with Visual Magnetics. The design itself features series of [parallel pinstripes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mathematically-shaped) that angle inward and outward up the wall. At a distance, the effect is one of pulsation, with illusive, almost discombobulating distortions that contrast nicely with the otherwise plain writing surface that is essentially in communal office spaces. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 85% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Illusive Workspace Wall Coverings:** Incorporating illusive designs into traditional workspace wall coverings presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the commercial office design industry. - **Functional Dry-erase Surfaces:** Creating wall coverings with integrated dry-erase surfaces presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the interior design industry, particularly for educational and professional settings. - **Pulsating Visual Effects in Design:** Incorporating pulsating designs into wall coverings presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation and unique visual experiences in interior design, particularly for commercial and public spaces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Commercial Office Design:** The incorporation of illusive designs and functional dry-erase surfaces in wall coverings presents disruptive innovation opportunities in commercial office design and may offer a competitive advantage in attracting top talent. - **Interior Design:** The use of pulsating visual effects and innovative dry-erase surfaces in wall coverings presents disruptive innovation opportunities for the interior design industry, particularly for public and educational spaces. - **Educational and Professional Settings:** The combination of functional dry-erase surfaces with illusive designs in wall coverings presents disruptive innovation opportunities in educational and professional settings, allowing for interactive and engaging work environments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Statement Wall Covering Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/el-muro.md) - [Space Reconfiguring Panels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mobl-panels.md) - [Renter-Friendly Wallpaper Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/renter-friendly-wallpaper.md) - [Organic Landscape Wallcoverings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/borealis-series.md) - [Workstation Projection Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/work-wall.md) - [Contemporary Dynamic Workspaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/officetopia.md) - [Folk Art-Inspired Wallpapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/backdrop.md) - [Modular Magnetic Wall Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wall-organizer-concept.md) - [Textural Wallcovering Technologies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallcovering-technology.md)
