# Midcentury-Inspired Record Tables Stian Herdal Designed a Vinyl Table with a Wide-Legged Base By Amy Duong | Published 2018-07-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vinyl-table References: [design-milk](https://design-milk.com/hrdl-vinyl-table/) & [hrdl.no](https://hrdl.no/products/the-vinyl-table) Stian Herdal, also known as HRDL, is a talented furniture designer and photographer -- he recently introduced his latest piece, the Vinyl Table. It is a handmade table designed with an organic midcentury concept as inspiration. The table rests on top of a wide-legged stand foundation and has a storage concept made to hold and display vinyl collectibles. The table is a made-to-order design, constructed from oak and Valchromat, which is a type of wood that is resistant to moisture, has a higher durability in comparison to traditional MDF and has incorporated organic dye fibers for consistent hues. HRDL's Vinyl Table has dual tones and spotlights two main elements -- the sliding tambour door and the two-row storage system and display. The sliding door is made to keep amplifiers, cords or cables out of sight while the storage can hold up to 200 LPs and 45s. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 26% | Activity: 2% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Vinyl Collections:** Opportunity for innovative designs that incorporate vinyl records into furniture for display and storage purposes. - **Midcentury Modern:** Opportunity for modern designs inspired by midcentury style in furniture for a unique and trendy aesthetic. - **Handmade Furniture:** Opportunity for personalized designs made to order with unique materials and construction techniques for an exclusive product. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Potential for furniture designers to create innovative designs that cater to the increasing demand for vinyl collections and midcentury modern style. - **Interior Design:** Potential for interior designers to incorporate stylish and functional vinyl record tables in homes, offices, or commercial settings. - **Artisanal Manufacturing:** Potential for artisanal manufacturers to create unique handmade furniture using environmentally-friendly materials with superior durability and aesthetics. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Contemporary Stereo Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-record-bureau.md) - [Vinyl Record Credenzas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/geology-studio.md) - [Modernist Record Collection Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toneoptic-rpm.md) - [Vinyl Storage Shelving Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-toneoptic-rpm.md) - [Metallic Architectural Record Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rytm.md) - [Vinyl Record-Catering Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spin-collection.md) - [Retro-Modern Turntable Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vertical-turntable-concept.md) - [Translucent Record Storage Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aurala120a.md) - [Modern Vintage-Inspired Turntables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/henry-turntable.md)
