Maybe it's because they're so far from modern fashion, but these floating vintage opera costumes have me totally captivated. E.V. Day created this installation at the New York [City Opera](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immersive-public-art-installation) from old-fashioned dresses from decades gone by.

"Day has chosen the garments from City Opera’s rich archive of retired costumes, and has transformed them into dramatic stop-motion expressions of the explosive energy and extravagance of opera," Design Year Book says.

The vintage opera costumes will [hang from the ceiling](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/making-the-invisible-visible) of the New York City Opera promenade by fishing tackle, floating like ghosts with skirts and sleeves billowing outward.
