The compositions reveal hidden scenes and images within their folds and are accented with muted color tones. "Modeled and carved from blocks of epoxy resin and then painted, the sculptures are inspired by found objects and photographs collected in the last 20 years." Based in San Franciso, the artist displays six sculptures and eight collages in his latest exhibition. The work reflects his mood, vision and state of mind from the past two years and illustrates his interest in spatial and dimensional studies. These abstract sculptures resemble pieces of crinkled paper and can at times be reminiscent of discarded chewing gum pieces. While they are abstract and ambiguous to the untrained eye, artist Vincent Fecteau sees hidden images within his pieces. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.6/10 - Popularity: 9% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Hidden Imagery Art:** Crinkled canvas sculptures reveal hidden scenes, creating an opportunity for artists to explore new ways of expressing hidden narratives. - **Perception-altering Art:** Artworks that play with viewers' perception through folded canvas compositions inspire opportunities for creative exploration in the field of interactive installations. - **Spatial and Dimensional Studies:** Artists exploring spatial and dimensional studies can take inspiration from Vincent Fecteau's crinkled canvas sculptures to develop innovative techniques and create visually captivating artwork. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art Galleries:** Art galleries can showcase crinkled canvas sculptures and other perception-altering artworks to attract art enthusiasts interested in unique and engaging experiences. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate crinkled canvas sculptures into their projects to add intrigue and create visually stunning focal points. - **Creative Education:** Crinkled canvas sculptures offer an opportunity for art schools and workshops to teach students about hidden imagery and perception manipulation techniques in sculpture and mixed media art. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Human Embraced-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallmounted-sculpture.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md) - [Sculptural Paper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti.md) - [Structured Art Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flowchart.md) - [Broken-Aesthetic Sculpture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brokenaesthetic-sculpture-collection.md) - [Psychedelic Sculptural Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frank-stella-recent-sculpture.md) - [Gem-Like Sculptural Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cylindrical-lenses.md) - [Colorful Texture Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorscape-installation.md) - [Textured Cast Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-scad.md)
