Based off of a 1940s Danish property, it has been [converted and extended](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bauhaus-budapest-apartment) in delightfully unconventional ways to revitalize the space. By doing so, Villa Wienberg plays with "patterns of shadows and filters the light," as Martin Wienberg of Aarhus-based Friis & Moltke puts it. Located in the [coastal suburb](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-de-praia) of Højbjerg on the outskirts of Aarhus, Villa Wienberg might be modern, but the design was created to pay homage to nature. A collaborative design effort that also involved Mette Wienberg of Wienberg Architects, Villa Wienberg is unconventional with its visually stimulating spaces that plays with contrasting materials and colors. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 57% | Activity: 48% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Unconventional Architecture:** Exploring unconventional design and construction methods in architecture to revitalize spaces and create visually stimulating environments. - **Nature-inspired Design:** Creating architectural designs that pay homage to nature and incorporate natural elements and materials. - **Visual Play with Shadows and Light:** Using patterns of shadows and filters to manipulate and enhance natural light in architectural spaces. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture and Design:** Exploring innovative design concepts and construction methods in the field of architecture. - **Construction and Renovation:** Implementing unconventional design and building practices to revitalize existing spaces and structures. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating nature-inspired elements and techniques that manipulate light and shadows to create visually stimulating and unique living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modern Danish Restoration](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vejrhj-house.md) - [Monolithic Sleek Summer Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vollerup-atrium.md) - [Relaxing Wooden Holiday Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heatherhill-beach-house.md) - [Organic Coastal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diachok-architects.md) - [Serene Heartwarming Villa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-minimale.md) - [Transformed Colorful Holiday Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gdr-bungalow.md) - [Contemporary Countryside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-countryside-home.md) - [Harmoniously Renovated Riverside Villas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-by-the-river.md) - [Extended Timber-Clad Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-vd.md)
