# Transparent Tin-Roofed Houses Villa Sterkenburg Has a Corrugated Tin Roof and Glass Walls By Joey Haar | Published 2017-02-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-sterkenburg References: [archdaily](http://www.archdaily.com/803147/villa-sterkenburg-dp6-architectuurstudio) & [dp6.nl](http://www.dp6.nl/projecten/villa-sterkenburg) Located in the rural woodlands of Driebergen, The Netherlands, [Villa Sterkenburg](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-residu) certainly looks the part. Though the family home is bright and cozy on the interior, its general form gives one the impression of an industrial silo for a farmhouse, with a [corrugated tin roof](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hee-house) that covers the living area and glass walls that give the home transparency. Because Villa Sterkenburg is located in a sparsely traveled area, it's residents weren't particularly concerned with privacy. This allowed DP6 architectuurstudio, the firm behind the design, to build it with many glass walls along the length of the home. These walls engender natural light to penetrate the interior from multiple angles, creating a brightness that might not seem readily apparent when looking at the structure from the outside. Further, the interior walls are clad in unfinished timber, adding to the rustic and natural feel of the home. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 84% | Activity: 68% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Transparent Architecture:** The trend towards transparent architecture creates opportunities for incorporating natural light and the environment into designs. - **Industrial Aesthetics:** Designs that merge industrial aesthetics with residential living can create a unique sense of style and function. - **Natural Materials:** The use of natural and sustainable materials in design and construction is becoming increasingly popular. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Architects can explore new design possibilities and materials to create innovative structures that push the boundaries of traditional architecture. - **Construction:** Construction companies can explore the use of sustainable materials and methods to create environmentally-friendly buildings that also have a unique aesthetic appeal. - **Interior Design:** The integration of natural light and materials can inspire new design trends for interior spaces, creating a connection to the environment and promoting overall well-being. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Taiwanese Steel Metal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/double-roof-house.md) - [Simple Material Family Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/openfield-house.md) - [Corrugated Metal-Clad Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/catskill-house.md) - [Unconventional Triangular Barnhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dutch-barnhouse.md) - [Sustainable Semi-Detached Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-residu.md) - [Architectural Archetype-Themed Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-r.md) - [Extended Timber-Clad Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-vd.md) - [Concrete-Supportive Bridged Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stempel-tesar.md) - [Corrugated Winery Sawtooth Roofs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tierra-tinta-winery.md)
