# Vibrant Norwegian Homes This Cozy Cabin Boasts a Vibrant Red Exterior By Katherine Pendrill | Published 2016-01-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vibrant-red-exterior References: [uncrate](http://uncrate.com/stuff/red-house/) & [jva.no](http://www.jva.no/projects/small/the-red-house.aspx) 'Vigsnæs AS Architects' designed a beautiful [hillside cabin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-house-on-a-hill) that is easy to spot thanks to its vibrant red exterior. While a bold paint choice may not be for everyone, this home provides a beautiful contrast to the snowy environment that surrounds it. The '[Red House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/red-house-1)' by Vigsnæs AS Architects sits on a sloping hillside in the western suburbs of Oslo, Norway. The home juts out from the hill, which gives it a striking, angular shape. The top floor contains the entryway, kitchen, living area and master bedroom, while the lower floor is reserved for the children's bedrooms. Although the interior is fairly simplistic, the home stands out against the snowy landscape due to its vibrant red exterior. The Red House demonstrates how something as simple as paint color can make a bold architectural statement. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.6/10 - Popularity: 98% | Activity: 93% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Bold Color Choices:** Bold and vibrant color choices in architecture can make a strong visual impact and create unique design statements. - **Architectural Contrast:** Creating architectural designs that contrast with their surroundings can result in visually striking and attention-grabbing buildings. - **Simplistic Interiors:** Pairing simplistic interior designs with bold exterior choices can create a harmonious balance and emphasize the architectural statement. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Architects can explore the use of bold colors in their designs to create visually stunning and memorable buildings. - **Home Construction:** Home construction companies can cater to clients who want unique and eye-catching homes with bold exterior choices. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can focus on creating simplistic interior spaces that complement and enhance bold architectural statements. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Vibrantly Colored Retro Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yellow-house.md) - [Contemporary Arctic Red Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/simonsson-house.md) - [Norwegian House Extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chr-tomters-veg.md) - [Arctic Floating Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-vipp-guesthouse.md) - [Log Cabin-Inspired Minimal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/restua.md) - [Sustainable Red Utilitarian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/red-house-1.md) - [Bright Red Timber Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/haus-2.md) - [Warm Timber Coastal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-lookout.md) - [Relaxing Wooden Holiday Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heatherhill-beach-house.md)
