# Winsome Winged Boats The Sea-Bound VEY Yacht Has the Grace and Elegance of a Scarf in the Wind By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-04-19 | Autos Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vey-yacht References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2013/04/18/ahoy-vey/) For many designers, the standard streamlined plan of a [luxury boat](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ikonic-yachts) often dictates the look of the deck. It's very unusual to see something like the VEY Yacht, which seems to assume a completely alien form. JungJun Park was contemplating the way in which a neck scarf billows delicately in the wind and strove to capture that graceful shape. This was translated into a dramatic and sculptural enclosure for the hull of the [magnificent motorboat](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beyond-horizons). The exquisite and sinuous form envelopes the sides of the VEY Yacht and folds together beautifully to create a [stern canopy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hermes-yacht-concept). The body of the boat beneath it mirrors this shape to produce a sloping deck with stairs, ideal for sunbathing. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 63% | Activity: 41% | Freshness: 8% ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Sculptural Boat Designs:** Designers are exploring more unconventional boat designs that challenge traditional streamlined shapes. - **Wind-inspired Boat Designs:** Designers are gaining inspiration from the way wind interacts with objects to create boat designs with unique forms and structures. - **Sloping Deck Designs:** Boat designers are creating sloping deck designs that allow for multiple uses on the same deck space. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Luxury Yacht Manufacturing:** Luxury yacht manufacturers can use unconventional designs, such as the VEY Yacht, to differentiate their products from standard streamlined designs. - **Boat Design and Engineering Services:** Boat design and engineering firms have the opportunity to leverage wind-inspired designs, like the VEY Yacht, to offer unique and visually-stunning boats to clients. - **Outdoor Recreation and Leisure:** Companies in the outdoor recreation and leisure industry can incorporate sloping deck designs, like the VEY Yacht, to provide versatile spaces for activities such as sunbathing and dining. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Hydrodynamic Avian-Inspired Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wakinyan-catamaran-yacht.md) - [Ultra-Opulent Razor-Like Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unique-71-superyacht.md) - [Riproaring Luxury Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/opulent-luxury-yachts.md) - [Seafaring Sky Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airyacht.md) - [Furutistic Reconfigurable Superyachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yacht-design1.md) - [Quad-Deck Vehicle Brand Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vnz-lamborghini-mega-yacht-88m.md) - [Hydrofoil-Equipped Yacht Tenders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alte-volare-yacht-tender.md) - [Hybrid Propulsion Yacht Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fluyt-yacht-concept.md) - [Bronze Canopy Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hermes-yacht-concept.md) - [Solar Panel Luxe Superyachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flame-superyacht.md)
