The process of designing lasting vertical gardens came about through studying soilless gardens in nature and mimicking the findings. Every garden that Hellgren creates takes into account the specifics of the location that it's designed for (e.g. climate, sun exposure, and surrounding context). Hellgren’s lush vertical gardens have been created for [office buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mangrove-garden), [clothing stores](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calwer-passage) and public restrooms in addition to outdoor installations. Have a look at his work to see how some vertical foliage can warm up any space. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 77% | Activity: 80% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Vertical Gardens:** Exploring the use of vertical gardens in urban environments to reconnect people with the natural environment. - **Soilless Gardens:** Applying the concept of soilless gardens in designing lasting vertical gardens. - **Location-specific Designs:** Creating vertical gardens that are tailored to the climate, sun exposure, and surrounding context of the location. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Opportunity for landscape architects to collaborate with architects to incorporate vertical gardens in building designs. - **Retail:** Retail stores can integrate lush vertical gardens to create a natural and inviting shopping environment. - **Hospitality:** Hotels and restaurants can utilize vertical gardens to enhance their outdoor spaces and offer a unique ambiance to guests. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mini Mess-Free Garden Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hydroponics-garden.md) - [Nature-Connecting Design Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vert-installation.md) - [Architecture-Inspired Indoor Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vegetment-vegetable-cultivator.md) - [Indoor Air Quality-Improving Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elpo-indoor-vertical-garden.md) - [Garden-Focused Victorian Terrace House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/helvetia.md) - [Plant-Filled Latticed Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/touching-eden-house.md) - [Living Landscape Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hedge-and-arbour-house.md) - [Plant-Centric Dynamic Office Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garden-of-edyn.md) - [London-Based Garden Roofscapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roof-garden.md)
