# Modern Danish Restoration The Vejrhøj House is Revivef from a 1967 Coastal Landmark By Amy Duong | Published 2025-11-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vejrhj-house References: [janhenrikjansen.dk](https://www.janhenrikjansen.dk/) The Vejrhøj house by Marshall Blecher and Jan Henrik Jansen revives a 1967 [coastal landmark](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coastal-house), restoring Ole Meyer’s original summerhouse with care and restraint. The renovation preserves the defining thatched roof and timber structure while integrating modern insulation, updated joinery, and energy-efficient glazing. Each intervention respects the building’s rural setting and craftsmanship, ensuring that every addition feels like a continuation rather than a contrast. The atmosphere remains grounded in natural texture and light, echoing the original vision. A [new concrete extension](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/waverley-house), partially embedded in the hillside, expands the program while maintaining visual harmony with the landscape. Its board-marked surfaces reference the timber grain of the main house, linking past and present through material dialogue. By combining preservation with precision, Vejrhøj demonstrates how [Danish modernism](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-perch) can evolve without losing its quiet integrity.
