# Understated Hillside Abodes Norway's Vega Cottage is a Modern Translation of a Classic Cabin By Jana Pijak | Published 2014-09-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vega-cottage References: [wallpaper](http://www.wallpaper.com/architecture/interactive-floor-plan-vega-cottage-by-kolman-boye-architects-norway/7297) & [kolmanboye](http://www.kolmanboye.com/vega) The Vega Cottage is a mountainside abode that is located in the heart of beautiful Norway. Designed by [Kolman Boye Architects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saltviga-house), the home sits just off the coast of the Norwegian sea and boasts stunning views of its surrounding, natural landscape. The home's gorgeous views include scenes of its [mountainous terrain](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mountainous-home) and water views that resemble something out of a landscape painting. This modernist cabin boasts an understated design that is fresh and sterile in its aesthetic. Though inspired by Norway's [traditional fisherman cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iorram), Vega Cottage is more modern and sophisticated than it is rustic and run-down. Its interior features a range of natural wood finishes that compliment the similar aesthetic of the monochromatic and wood-constructed facade that adorns its exterior. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Modernist Mountain Homes:** Design modernist mountain homes that blend with the natural landscape. - **Sustainable Architecture:** Create sustainable architectural designs for mountain homes. - **Natural Design Elements:** Incorporate natural design elements, such as wood finishes, into modernist home design. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** Architecture firms can specialize in designing modernist mountain homes that incorporate sustainable design elements. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can specialize in incorporating natural design elements, such as wood finishes, into modernist home design. - **Real Estate:** Real estate firms can focus on selling environmentally sustainable mountain homes that incorporate natural design elements and modernist architecture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Log Cabin-Inspired Minimal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/restua.md) - [Architectural Tranquil Cabin Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bolder-londges.md) - [Tranquil Sustainable Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saltviga-house.md) - [Circular Windowed Woodland Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/timber-nest.md) - [Contemporary Countryside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-countryside-home.md) - [Outdoor-Blended Summer Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/io-cabin.md) - [Tranquil Cozy Canadian Cottages](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/white-rock-cottage.md) - [Tranquil Nature-Centric Cabin Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nortehaus.md) - [Slate-Clad Prefab Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1807-holiday.md)
