The architectural firm Arkís has designed and completed the Visitor Center for Vatnajökull National Park. Located near Kirkjubæjarklaustur in Iceland, this structure and its holistic design approach are characterized by intentional integration into and harmony with the natural topography.

The Visitor Center for Vatnajökull National Park functions as an informational hub and cultural venue for both travelers and locals. The venue features a [turf-covered roof](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/haus-am-lagnesberg) that is accessible to the public. Through this amenity, individuals can enjoy [panoramic views](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amager-nature-park) of the surrounding glacial landscape.

Arkís used [locally sourced timber](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oarvemtta-school) and materials in the construction, including turf transplanted from the site, Icelandic timber, and glacial river gravel in the floors. The structure is also certified under the stringent international BREEAM sustainability standard.
