# Physics-Defying Vases These Vases from Oodesign Make Flowers Look Like They are Floating By Tia Clarke | Published 2013-04-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vases-from-oodesign References: [mymodernmet](http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/oodesign-floating-ripple-vases) & [likecool](http://likecool.com/Floating_ripple_vases--Accessories--Home.html) These amazing vases from 'Oodesign' appear to make a single flower defy the laws of physics and float in water. The way to achieve this look is not as high-tech as you might think: the Japanese design firm simply created a clear, plastic device to hold the flower in place, which is light enough to float on water. To create the elegant look, you could group a bunch of flowers in a pond or a bowl of water and pop them into the holders. One of the great things about this vase is that the flowers can move around independently, which could create a dramatic backdrop for an event. I think this look could be stunning in a garden, or used at an outdoor wedding for a classic and sophisticated feel. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 75% | Activity: 83% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Floating Vases:** Designing vases that create the illusion of flowers floating in water. - **Interactive Floral Displays:** Creating vases that allow flowers to move independently, adding a dynamic element to floral arrangements. - **Innovative Flower Holders:** Developing clear, plastic devices that can securely hold flowers in place while creating a visually stunning effect. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Floral Design:** Opportunity for floral designers to create unique and captivating arrangements using floating vases and interactive floral displays. - **Event Planning:** Providing event planners with a disruptive innovation in floral decor that can add a dramatic and sophisticated touch to weddings and other events. - **Home Decor:** Offering consumers a new and innovative way to display flowers in their homes with elegant and physics-defying vases. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimalist Illusory Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vaso-gota-vase.md) - [Delicate Colorful Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delicate-colorful-vase.md) - [Chandelier-Shaped Self-Watering Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/selfwatering-vase.md) - [Puddle-Imitating Minimal Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puddle-series.md) - [Miniature Cylindrical Flower Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hanakubari.md) - [Mouth-Blown Glass Hydro Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hydro-glass-vase.md) - [Personalized Floral Grid Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-vase.md) - [Nature-Inspired Colorful Glass Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anemona.md) - [Playful Packaging-Inspired Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/strawberry-milk-vase.md)
