# Geometric Stone Facades The Vall de Laguar House Packs a Contemporary Feel in a Small Package By Christopher DeLuca | Published 2011-05-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vall-de-laguar-house References: [archdaily](http://www.archdaily.com/134146/la-vall-de-laguar-house-enproyecto-arquitectura/) & [enproyecto.es](http://www.enproyecto.es/) The Vall de Laguar house created by Enproyecto Arquitectura is a brilliantly simple cube design that packs a [minimalist and contemporary aesthetic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aip-azia-villa) inside. The Vall de Laguar house itself, located in a remote area of Spain that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea, was built from [local stones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-atrium-house). What is interesting about the Vall de Laguar house is how the architects responded to the challenge of designing a home in a [remote mountainous location](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-the-andes). Also interesting is how the architects created double-use features in the home: the skylights for the basement bedroom can turn into seats on the floor above. The cube home reflects a brilliant response to the contraints that were imposed upon the architects by the geography of the land and the remoteness of the location. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 93% | Activity: 86% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Geometric Stone Facades:** Opportunity to explore innovative ways of using local stones for architectural designs. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Architects can incorporate geometric stone facades as a sustainable and aesthetic element in their designs. - **Home Design:** Home designers can implement double-use features in small spaces to maximize functionality. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stone Ruin-Transformed Spanish Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-1627.md) - [Compact Stone Conversions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/figuier-house.md) - [Boxy Shaped Beach Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roman-izquierdo-bouldstridge.md) - [Compact White-Painted Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whitepainted-modern-home.md) - [Reflective Artful Calming Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-gesso.md) - [Lofty Minimalist Living Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-living-space1.md) - [Nature-Inspired Hilltop Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/las-rocas.md) - [Minimal White-Plastered Hillside Villas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bundle-house.md) - [High Concrete Walled Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cesar-mancillas.md)
