# Giant Metal Grenades Valay Shende Creates Amazing, Thought-Provoking Metal Art By Robyn Currie | Published 2010-05-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/valay-shende References: [cakeheadlovesevil.wordpress](http://cakeheadlovesevil.wordpress.com/2010/05/22/valay-shende/) & [valayshende](http://www.valayshende.com) Valay Shende produces art that, as with most good artistic endeavors, you can't really put a concrete description to. Shende uses a lot of metal, and in completely different modes than one would expect, like the giant metal grenade in the first image. Some of Valay Shende's other works include [intricate metal beading](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-echoes) in the creation of [life-sized people](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pearl-jam), and her all-metal gun. My personal favorite of the Valay Shende collection above is the giant grenade. I don't know what the social comment is supposed to be, but it is awesome. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.9/10 - Popularity: 9% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Metal Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new techniques and materials in metal art to create thought-provoking pieces. - **Life-sized Sculptures:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Use innovative methods, such as intricate metal beading, to design unique and eye-catching life-sized sculptures. - **Social Commentary in Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Find new ways to express social commentary through art using unconventional materials and thought-provoking designs. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Fuse traditional and unconventional materials in art and design to create visually striking and conceptually rich works. - **Sculpture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Push the boundaries of sculpture by experimenting with materials, techniques, and scale to create captivating and thought-provoking pieces. - **Fine Arts:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Challenge traditional notions of fine arts by incorporating unconventional mediums and exploring new ways to convey artistic expression. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Opulent Armory Clock Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lepe-1839-grenade-clock.md) - [Explosion-Damaged Sculpture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-into-darkness.md) - [Intricate Resin Hand-Painted Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snh003.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md) - [Monumental Cultural Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pearl-jam.md) - [Surreal Love-Themed Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joakim-ojanen.md) - [Artisanal Artful Glass Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kaanch-glass-series.md) - [Spiky Inflatable Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inflatable-sculptures1.md) - [Insect-Inspired Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insect-bronze-sculptures.md)
