# Pliable Window-Pane Paintings Nicolas Deshayes Enhances His Work with Vacuum-Formed Plastic By Gil Cohen | Published 2013-02-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vacuumformed-plastic References: [beautifuldecay](http://beautifuldecay.com/2013/02/07/nicolas-deshayes-vaccum-formed-plastic-sculptures/) & [nicolasdeshayes.net](http://www.nicolasdeshayes.net/) Exploring colors as they interact with each other on the canvas, artist Nicolas Deshayes incorporates vacuum-formed plastic into his artwork to create a sense of movement. Working with carefully color blocked areas, and also allowing for some of the colors to bleed into one another, the artist creates a mixed space of different elements. When he places the specially treated clear plastic windows on top of certain areas on his paintings, the artist creates a new way to view the art. The pieces become fused with a sense of [rippling motion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ripples-collection) and the [colors seem to shift](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/color-roller) with a flowing movement. Utilizing different textiles on top of the painted canvas adds another layer to the artwork. The vacuum-formed plastic used by Nicolas Deshayes keeps his work from staying too still. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Enhanced Artwork:** Incorporating vacuum-formed plastic into artwork creates a sense of movement and enhances the viewing experience. - **Mixed Media:** Combining textiles with painted canvas adds another layer of depth and complexity to artwork. - **Dynamic Colors:** Colors that interact and bleed into one another on the canvas create a visually engaging experience for viewers. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art and Design:** Artists can explore the use of vacuum-formed plastic and mixed media techniques to innovate their artwork and capture audience attention. - **Interior Design:** The use of enhanced artwork, with its sense of movement and dynamic colors, can be incorporated into interior design to create visually captivating spaces. - **Fashion and Textiles:** The combination of textiles with painted canvas opens up opportunities for fashion designers to create unique and textured fabrics that can be used in clothing and accessories. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [3D-Printed Colorful Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olivier-van-herpt-1.md) - [Colorful Texture Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorscape-installation.md) - [Color-Blending Kinetic Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/felipe-pantone.md) - [Sculptural Paper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti.md) - [Pleated Textile Dividers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plissade.md) - [Fluid Function Art Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-flow.md) - [Sculptural Mixed-Media Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-echoes.md) - [Glass Beaded Intricate Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition.md) - [Structured Art Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flowchart.md)
