# Trash Pick-Up Eco Trains The Vacuum Cleaner Rail Engine is a Massive Garbage Collector By Meghan Young | Published 2011-01-12 | Autos Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vacuum-cleaner-rail-engine References: [therecycletimes](http://www.therecycletimes.com/2011/01/old-rail-engine-to-chug-along-collecting-garbage/) I've never seen anything like the [vacuum cleaner](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/batterypowered-vacuum-cleaners) rail engine before. A re-purposed old railway train, it rides along the tracks and picks up garbage along the way with an elephant-like trunk. Based in India, the Vacuum Cleaner Rail Engine was made in the Parel workshop by [Central Railway](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jeffrey-miller) engineers. An extremely green project, it not only is a [recycled concept](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/binko-recycling-machine), but it is also a piece which travels around cleaning up the planet. This massive garbage collector is definitely unique, but most importantly, it is helpful to the environment. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 12% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Recycled Concept:** The vacuum cleaner rail engine is an example of a recycled concept, showcasing the trend of repurposing old materials and creating innovative solutions. - **Green Projects:** The vacuum cleaner rail engine is an innovative green project that demonstrates the trend towards environmentally friendly initiatives. - **Massive Garbage Collector:** The vacuum cleaner rail engine represents the trend of using large-scale, innovative solutions to address waste management and collection. ### Who This Affects Most - **Public Transportation:** The vacuum cleaner rail engine has the potential to disrupt the public transportation industry by combining waste collection with existing railway systems. - **Waste Management:** The vacuum cleaner rail engine offers a disruptive innovation opportunity in the waste management industry, providing a more efficient and eco-friendly solution for garbage collection. - **Environmental Technology:** The vacuum cleaner rail engine exemplifies the potential for disruptive innovation in the environmental technology industry, showcasing how advanced technology can be utilized to address environmental challenges. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Panoramic Open-Air Roof Trains](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-train.md) - [Interactive Autonomous Cityscape Sweepers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-unmanned-sweeper-concept.md) - [Water-Recycling Robot Vacuums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/s10-ultra-robot-vacuum.md) - [3-in-1 Vacuum Cleaners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trapom.md) - [Steam-Powered Vacuum Cleaners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tineco-floor-one-s9-artist-steam.md) - [Compact Automotive Vacuum Cleaners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/evo-cleaner.md) - [Ambient Moisture Capture Vacuums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3i-s10-ultra-robot-vacuum.md) - [Shapeshifting Railway Inspection Motorbikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/railway-motorcycle.md) - [Debris-Compacting Robot Vacuums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roomba-205-dustcompactor-combo-robot.md)
