The [knife and flatware caddy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cutluxe-2) boasts patented [UV LED light](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smartlid) and a dryer to clean utensils and effectively reduce the spread of germs and bacteria. As UV light is effective at destroying the structure of DNA and RNA at the cellular level, it is often used in professional applications where sterilization is required. Now, Hookee is helping to bring the same kind of technology to the kitchen. Increasingly, everyday objects are being enhanced with self-sanitizing features to support better health and cleanliness at home—especially as people become more aware of just how easily bacteria and viruses spread.
