# Illusionary USB Clocks This USB Propeller Clock Keeps Time Through the Illusion of Still Life By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2015-10-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/usb-propeller-clock References: [damngeeky](http://www.damngeeky.com/2015/10/15/36372/propeller-clock-is-the-coolest-gizmo-you-can-make-or-buy-today.html) & [amazon](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DHEK0ME/?tag=trenhunt0f-20) You might think that the [classic clock design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/radius-clock) is becoming a thing of the past with the advent of digital technology, but this USB Propeller Clock looks to imitate the aesthetic while using digital means for a hybrid option for all. As the name denotes, the USB Propeller Clock plugs into a computer port for power; from here, it will begin to spin and use a [series of LEDs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holo-fan) to create a clock face that will show you the time. This innovatively quirky peripheral is quite unnecessary, but helps to add a touch of character to an otherwise [boring, run of the mill workstation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-desk-clock). Also operating as a fan that'll keep you cool, the USB Propeller Clock is clearly a win for those looking for a cool way (literally) to keep time. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 77% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Hybrid Clock Designs:** This trend explores the combination of classic clock aesthetics with digital technology, offering a unique and visually appealing timekeeping experience. - **Quirky Peripherals:** The rise of quirky peripherals like the USB Propeller Clock adds character and personality to otherwise mundane workstations, enhancing the user experience. - **Functional Multipurpose Devices:** Devices like the USB Propeller Clock that serve dual purposes, such as timekeeping and acting as a fan, are gaining popularity for their practicality and space-saving capabilities. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Consumer Electronics:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in this industry could include the development of more unique and visually appealing clock designs that merge traditional and digital components. - **Computer Peripherals:** There is potential for disruptive innovation within this industry by creating peripherals that add fun and personality to workstations, enhancing the user experience and offering a competitive edge. - **Office Supplies:** Innovative office supplies that serve multiple functions, such as timekeeping devices that also act as fans, are an opportunity for disruptive innovation in this industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Retro Digital Flip Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flip-clock1.md) - [Mechanical Digital Mesmerizing Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/triaxial-numechron-clock.md) - [Retro Pastel Flip Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-flip-clock.md) - [Connected Simplicity-Focused Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-rubiks-cube-clock.md) - [Desktop Display Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minitoo-retro-pc-style.md) - [Kinetic Pattern Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moir-clock.md) - [Flowing Light Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crydal-scroll-clock.md) - [Analog-Style Digital Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/klydoclock.md) - [Unique Timekeeping Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unique-timekeeping-device.md)
